The best medieval wall walks in Italy

From the places of classical myths to those that have made history. In Italy it is possible to satisfy all desires in terms of Camminamenti di Ronda on the walls that present themselves in different shapes and heights. And the panorama is no exception, offering new and privileged points of view.


1. Citadel

Medieval patrol walkway, elliptical in shape and completely passable. A path almost two kilometers long at 15 meters above sea level that allows you to admire the city and the surrounding countryside up to the Venetian Prealps.

2. Monteriggioni

The city walls embrace the top of a hill with a perimeter of about 570 meters up to 20 meters high and are equipped with fourteen rectangular towers protruding from the external curtain. The walkway allows you to enjoy a splendid view towards the inside of the village and towards the outside of the Chianti and the Sienese countryside.

3. The Lion's Rock, Castiglione al Lago Trasimeno

The Rocca, shaped like an irregular pentagon, is made up of five towers and three gates and is dominated by the characteristic triangular tower about 30 metres high. The patrol path offers a splendid view of Lake Trasimeno

4. Gradara

On the external walls of the 14th century you can walk 700 meters along the ancient walkways of Ronda. On one side you can enjoy the splendid panorama of the rolling hills of the Marche, and on the other the gaze sweeps along the coast of Romagna, until it gets lost beyond the horizon of the Adriatic Sea.
